David H. Brown - U.S. Navy Seabees 1967-70

Dave Brown grew up in East Hampton, NY and joined the U.S. Navy Seabees in 1967 after receiving his draft notice. During his time in the Seabees Dave volunteered for many duties including bridgebuilding and re-shingling of the Presidents home at Camp David.

Dave did two tours in Vietnam with MCB 1 (Mobile Construction Battalion 1) where he repaired bridges, built sea huts, water towers, latrines, storage facilities and much more in support of war effort. Dave’s time in the Seabees took him all over Vietnam including Da Nang, Phu Bai and Phu Quoc Island, just to name a few.

After being discharged Dave returned to East Hampton and told us that because of his time in the Seabees he never had any issues getting work.

In our interview Dave remembered Glen Ludban, Arthur Davis Moscrip and Walter McGinn who made the ultimate sacrifice and will never be forgotten.
