George B. Holmes - U.S. Army 1946 - 1948

George Holmes was born in 1928 in Melrose, Massachusetts. George joined the Army right after high school and was assigned to a separation center because so many men were being discharged after the war was over. George eventually was transferred to Germany as part of the post war allied occupation force. George was one of many U.S. and allied soldier who helped rebuild Europe after WWII. George was witness to the horrors of the Holocaust at Dachau and the beginning of the Cold War with the USSR during the Berlin Air Lift. George as also luck enough to play baseball while stationed in Germany.
