George M. Motz - U.S. Army 1964-68
Jimmy Jackson joined the Army in 2003 right after his 17th birthday and was deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was part of the 2nd Infantry Division,3rd Brigade, 23rd Infantry and stationed mostly in Mosul. After leaving the military in 2007, with the rank of Specialist E4, Jimmy wrestled with PTSD but discovered a new mission by founding a non-profit organization called “Do You Give a Ruck?’ that organizes ruck marches to fundraise for veterans causes and to raise awareness of the problems veterans face adjusting back into civilian life.

George M. Motz - U.S. Army 1964-68
Lieutenant George M. Motz spent his time on active duty as both a Notification and a Survivors Assistance Officer, guiding the families of soldiers killed in action during the Vietnam War. Lt. Motz was stationed at Charleston Army Depot SC and worked with predominantly poor black families in and around Charleston SC. There he distinguished himself and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in 1967.
Following his military service, he began a 40-year career on Wall Street and more recently served four terms as Mayor of the Village of Quogue NY.
His book “Taps” is a tribute to all families suffering the loss of a loved one in service to our country.
