Kip Kirby - U.S. Army 1968-69

Joseph S. “Kip” Kirby of East Quogue passed from this life on April 8, 2023 at the age of 78 years.

Kip served with the Big Red One in Vietnam 1968-69 as a M60 machine gunner and was wounded in action. Kip was a member of the American Legion POST 924, Hampton Bays NY and VFW POST 5350 in Westhampton Beach NY.

"It was getting a bit warm and stuffy but it wasn’t long before we reached the mortuary and I was put on the cooler tray. When they opened the door and it was my time for the embalming the mortician had just made his incision and I bled a little, that was unusual and so he began to check my vital signs then they were able to get a slight pulse” - From Jim's interview (Sep 2019)
