It is with great sadness with the announcement of the passing of United States Navy Captain/Father/Grandfather/Friend, Dr. Van Roger Tibbetts. Taking his last breath on December 9th, 2019, Dr. Tibbetts has left behind countless fond memories of his kind smile, great sense of humor and love for life. An active member of several San Diego organizations, including the Optimist Club and the San Diego Zoo, Dr. Tibbetts has no doubt made an impact on the many whose lives he's touched during his 88 years. An adjunct professor of dental hygiene at Southwestern College for more than a decade, his compassionate energy not only influenced the souls around him, but changed them. He was a caring Father to 4 daughters, a loving husband, and the greatest Grandpa to 4 adoring grandchildren. His furry best friend, the faithful Buddy, met his maker several days after Dr. Tibbetts passing and we can only hope that they are sitting side by side in the heavens.
Having served in the Navy for 27 years, Dr. Tibbetts will be buried with Military Honors at Miramar National Cemetery.
