John Pino - U.S. Navy 1968-72
John Pino served in the U.S. Navy submarine service from 1968-1972. John spent two and a half years training mostly in underwater weapons including Poseidon Missile training eventually serving as publication officer and torpedo-man aboard the USS George Washington (SSBN-598). John spent some of his time training in New London CT across the Long Island Sound from where he grew up in Sag Harbor NY and said “it was the most important thing I think I’ve done in my life”.
