Harold "Granny" Granitur was born in Newark NJ in 1925. Harold was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and originally served with the 90th Infantry Division of the 1st Army. He landed in France on June 8, 1944 (D-Day +2) and eventually was transferred to General Patton's 3rd Army to support the Battle of the Bulge.

USA Warrior Stories originally interviewed Harold "Granny" Granitur in 2018. Harold was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and originally served with the 90th Infantry Division of the 1st Army. He landed in France on June 8, 1944 (D-Day +2) and eventually was transferred to General Patton's 3rd Army to support the Battle of the Bulge. On March 17th 2022, 97 year old WWII Veteran Harold Granitur was presented with the French Legion of Honor in recognition of his military service in France during WWII.
