Kimberley Mann - U.S. Navy 1986-91 with her service dog Elvis
U.S. Navy Corpsman Veteran Kimberley Mann tells her story of training her dog ELVIS as her Service Dog to help her with PTSD. Kimberley and Elvis trained at Dogs For Life in Vero Beach, Florida - Class of 2020.
Kimberley Mann served in the U.S. Navy on active duty from 1986-89 and as an active-duty reservist from 1990-91. Kimberley did her training as an Emergency Medical Technician at Camp Pendleton-Field Hospital and was eventually assigned as a General Duty Corpsman in the ICU at Naval Hospital Pensacola, Florida. While serving in the reserves Kimberley was stationed at Bremerton Naval Hospital working in the ICU in support of Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
After her service Kimberley was diagnosed with PTSD triggered from an MST (Military Sexual Assault). Working with her service dog Elvis and Dogs For Life, Inc., a non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of life for veterans and other individuals in need through training service dogs, Kimberley says, “He (Elvis) changed my life. This program (Dogs For Life) has changed my life and I'm helping other people as well to recover from mental health and post-traumatic stress disorder.”
