Art of Healing Exhibition at Bay Street Theater

“East End Veteran’s ART of Healing” Exhibition celebrates & showcases 3 East End Veteran’s creativity and how they use Art for Healing from PTSD and other traumas. John Melillo, Local East End Artist and Disabled Vietnam Veteran has been sharing his Art of Healing Journey with the community for many years. Joining him are two gifted Women Veteran Artists, Lisha Terry and Angelique Williams, that offer fresh and grounded work.

John Melillo is a Oil Contemporary Realist/Abstract Surrealist Painter who grew up on the East End of Long Island and used to row a boat with his cousin circa 1955 in Sag Harbor by Long Wharf. John is also a disabled Vietnam Veteran who uses painting as a Solace and Healing Mechanism. Much of his art is inspired by his East End Heritage.www.artfeelingsjm.com /

Lisha Terry started serving in the Coast Guard in 1996. During a particularly trying event, Lisha was part of a team that rescued a woman from a downed plane. Later she moved from Active Duty to the Reserve, and then to the 106th Air National Guard Security Forces in Westhampton Beach. Lisha is currently Commander of Westhampton American Legion Post 834. She found her talent in Art while serving oversees and continues to use it as a source of healing and inspiration today. Angelique Williams, Navy Veteran, served overseas. Angelique is involved with Paws of War, an organization that trains and places shelter dogs to serve and provide independence to our U.S. military veterans that suffer from the emotional effects of war. She also has a service dog, Buddy, who was rescued from Kuwait. Angelique is from the East End and has an extreme talent of using her creativity of Art for solace. You don’t want to miss seeing her beautiful “Charcoal pieces” that reflect her life experiences.
