Art Culver - U.S. Navy 1960-66

When he was 12 years old, Art Culver started to make models of airplanes and fell in love with flying. He applied to both the Air Force and Navy after he got out of school and was accepted by both. He picked the Navy because he wanted to serve on a carrier and he says he liked the uniform. He did over a hundred combat missions in Vietnam before leaving the Navy and then taking a job with American Airlines as a pilot.

Carroll Oates - U.S. Army 1969-2007

Carroll Oates joined the Army in 1969 and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 2007. He was deployed to both England and Germany as part of the US Army Medical Command Depot Support Team. As a Reserve Major he was deployed to Honduras as Company Commander of the Medical Team for MedRets. Oates was called back to active duty in 1991 and deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm where he served as Executive Officer of two Field Medical Units. He was awarded a Bronze Star, a Meritorious Service Medal and 4 Army Commendation Medals. He is on the Board of the Indian River County Veterans's Council and 2nd Vice President of the Indian River County Military Officers Association.

Nicholas Mangano - U.S. Army 2013-17

Sgt. Nicholas Mangano grew up on Long Island, NY and joined the U.S. Army in 2013. Nick served with the 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia and was stationed in Jalalabad, Afghanistan as well as South Korea and Germany. Nick retired from the Army in 2017 and currently is a member of Airborne Tri Team, a non-for-profit organization providing war veterans with opportunities, physical challenges and goal oriented physical achievements to maximize their potential and increase their self-esteem all by being part of a team. airbornetriteam.org

Telly Antona - U.S. Army 1991-97

Telly Antona joined the U.S. Army while she was still in High School on the Army's delayed entry program and served 6 years and an additional year in the reserves. Telly served in the motor pool at Camp Kyle Korea and with central issues, supplying all the personnel at Fort Campbell KY for the 101st Airborne. Telly currently is involved with Habitat for Humanity and also a group of younger Veterans Net Gen in Vero Beach FL.

Peter M. F. Sichel - U.S. Army, OSS/CIA 1941-59

Peter M. F. Sichel's childhood was interrupted by the Nazis while growing up a Jew in Germany. He moved with his family to France in 1939, was imprisoned as an enemy alien and eventually escaped, reaching the United Stated in 1941.
Peter joined the Army shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served with the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) sending spies into Germany. Peter eventually became a senior official with the Century Intelligence Agency (CIA) serving in Berlin, Hong Kong and Washington before joining his family wine business in 1960.

Pat DeRosa - U.S. Army 1943-46

Pat DeRosa of Montauk died of natural causes in his sleep on March 30th. He was 101. In 1943, at the height of WWII, Pat was drafted into the Army Air Forces and sent to Greensboro, NC for basic training.  Soon after, Pat was offered to audition for the “Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band” and was accepted.  He spent three years traveling around the US with the band performing and entertaining the troops.
