This month we remember Phil Keith who passed away March 10, 2021. We got to know Phil while interviewing him in 2019. After doing our initial interview we invited Phil to participate in our SiriusXM special hosted by Alec Baldwin. Phil was not only a decorated Vietnam veteran, but a talented published writer and a wonderful man. He will be missed.

Read MoreCarroll Oates joined the Army in 1969 and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 2007. He was deployed to both England and Germany as part of the US Army Medical Command Depot Support Team. As a Reserve Major he was deployed to Honduras as Company Commander of the Medical Team for MedRets. Oates was called back to active duty in 1991 and deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm where he served as Executive Officer of two Field Medical Units. He was awarded a Bronze Star, a Meritorious Service Medal and 4 Army Commendation Medals. He is on the Board of the Indian River County Veterans's Council and 2nd Vice President of the Indian River County Military Officers Association.

On September 19, 2010, while clearing a path for United States Army Rangers in Kandahar, Mast took a wrong step into an IED along the road. The explosion resulted in the amputation of both his legs and his left hand index finger.

Patrick was deployed to Iraq in 2005 with the 113th Combat Engineer Battalion of the Indiana National Guard. He left the Guard in 2008. He is currently involved with the Next Generation Group of Veterans in Indian River County and the Veterans Council of Indian River.
