O. C. “Pete” Peterson, a navigator in the Army Transport Command during WW II died on October 26th at the age of 100. After the war, he stayed in the reserves and was called back to active service to take part in the Berlin Airlift.

Read MoreCarroll Oates joined the Army in 1969 and retired as a Lt. Colonel in 2007. He was deployed to both England and Germany as part of the US Army Medical Command Depot Support Team. As a Reserve Major he was deployed to Honduras as Company Commander of the Medical Team for MedRets. Oates was called back to active duty in 1991 and deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm where he served as Executive Officer of two Field Medical Units. He was awarded a Bronze Star, a Meritorious Service Medal and 4 Army Commendation Medals. He is on the Board of the Indian River County Veterans's Council and 2nd Vice President of the Indian River County Military Officers Association.
